NYC Penthouse

Project details

This project was a high-end spec penthouse apartment in New York City's Hudson Yards. Given a nearly blank canvas, we had the opportunity to envision a sophisticated apartment, replete with custom furnishings, high-end lighting and designer architectural elements. With a double height living room featuring views of the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and Statue of Liberty, our prompt was to complement the cityscape below. We reflected the colors of the Hudson River in woven drapes and a hand painted anodized aluminum fireplace. The furnishings were sumptuous with sofas enveloped in cognac-colored mohair and silk throw pillows. In the library, the custom millwork was a nod to the architecture of the Chrysler Building.

I worked as a junior designer on this project. In addition to collaborating on presentation boards and concept materials for client presentations, I helped maintain finish, appliance and plumbing schedules. I supported the purchasing of the FF&E, preparing purchase orders, working closely with our vendors for orders of custom drapery, rugs, lighting, fabric, furniture, artwork and accessories. I regularly visited our workrooms to oversee custom furniture progress. I communicated regularly between the client, contractors and subs, and was on site to install the project.
